Gillman Barracks used to house the British army until 1971. The camp included married quarters for officers, barracks buildings, sports facilities, messes, regimental institutes, schools and a swimming pool. After the British left, ir was subsequently occupied by various units of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) such as the School of Combat Engineers and the SAF 3rd Transport Battalion. It is now been transformed into a vibrant creative lifestyle enclave with art galleries, innovative F&B and lifestyle offerings. These pictures are what is left of the once mighty Gillman Barracks. The steps up to the school are still there. The last time I walked up them through the undergrowth I found the foundations of the school still there.
